The Municipality of Red Lake was formed on July 1, 1998, when
the former Unorganized Territory of Madsen, the Township of Red Lake, and the Township of Golden
amalgamated as a result of provincial consolidation requirements.
The population of the Municipality is just over 4,000 and is spread throughout the communities
of Red Lake, Madsen, Balmertown, Starratt-Olson, Cochenour, and McKenzie Island.
The Municipality can be found in the upper northwest corner of Ontario in the heart of Canada.
Residents enjoy the area’s natural beauty, with pristine lakes, rivers, streams, forests, and clear blue skies.
The Municipality of Red Lake is a thriving, prosperous, and progressive area that supports
major economic sectors such as mining, forestry, tourism, retail, and service businesses.
