Held each year in July the Norseman Floatplane Festival celebrates Red Lakes aviation history
and in particular the Norseman floatplane which has been flying from the waters of Red Lake since
the mid-1930s. Today there are more Norseman aircraft in Red Lake than in any other place in the
world making Red Lake the Norseman Capital of the World. The 3-day festival includes static aircraft
displays, water bombing and MNR forest fire fighting displays, a street festival, beer gardens,
pilots' reunion, music, street performers, mining displays, and more
